Services that Align with Your Association’s Strategic Needs

Fill the Strategic Gap & Technical Barrier with Strategic Grant Planning

Initial meeting with client to determine funding needs – private, state, or federal. Review financial information along with membership support. What are the short-term and long-term goals for the client? Do they have enough membership support for multi-year projects. This step takes on a very specific component of strategic planning that aligns with the overall association’s strategic goals. The PMG grant management department will provide an over-arching view of where grants may fit into the association along with a breakdown of components that will be required for a funding opportunity to be successful.

We will also review technical details as part of strategic grant planning: qualify for a private, state, or federal grant; any previous grant experience, bylaws, association status (IRS), already in the .gov system or needs to be registered (UEI and CAGE Codes), etc.

 

Grant Research and Analysis

After completing the strategic grant planning session, the grant management department will start to research funding options that align with the client’s needs across all spectrums. Once grant opportunities have been reviewed by all interested parties, the Director of Grants Management and/or the designated Grant Manager will meet with the client to determine if goals are still aligned, if original goals have changed, financial status has been updated, and if the research and analysis being provided still aligns with original strategic grant plan.

 

Potential Funding Review

When a funding opportunity is found that specifically aligns with the strategic grant plan and the client, the Director of Grants Management and/or the designated Grant Manager will update the client and set up meetings to review the potential funding opportunity. As part of the conversation, PMG will provide a detailed summary including the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) and a summary of the details/requirements. A sample timeline, overall budget, project narrative ideas, and staffing recommendations will also be discussed to get the grant flow started. Once the call is completed, an “after-call summary” will be provided via email, and meetings will be set up on regular occurrences to discuss drafts, review details, update information, and final sign-off before official submission.

 

Sample Timeline

Days 1-30: Introduction to all client related details and introduction to PMG Grants Department. Begin strategic grant planning with client and discuss potential paths forward for funding opportunities and best alignment.

Days 31-90: The PMG Grants Department will start to look for opportunities (private, state, and federal) that align with the strategic grant plan and relay information back to the appropriate person(s) for review. If something appears promising or the client would like to pursue, we can start conversations on next steps.

90 Day Review: The client meets with Director of Grants Management and/or Grant Manager to discuss opportunities and alignment, if there are any adjustments to make in funding searches, and continue moving forward with reviewing potential opportunities.

After 90 days: We continue to evaluate the client needs, research funding opportunities, and update as appropriate.

Grant Package

The PMG Grants Department will provide a structured, strategic process to help clients identify and prepare for competitive private, state, and federal grant opportunities. Over a typical 3–6‑month timeline, PMG works with clients to clarify funding needs, assess organizational readiness, and align grant pursuits with broader strategic goals.

The package includes three primary phases:

  1. Strategic Grant Planning – PMG evaluates funding goals, financial capacity, membership support, and technical requirements such as IRS status, past grant experience, and federal registration readiness.
  2. Grant Research & Analysis – PMG conducts targeted research to identify opportunities that match the client’s strategic priorities, adjusting recommendations as goals and circumstances evolve.
  3. Potential Funding Review – When viable opportunities arise, PMG provides detailed briefings, including NOFO requirements, draft timelines, budget considerations, and project narrative guidance, followed by ongoing collaboration through submission.

Clients receive continuous updates, structured check‑ins, and a weekly report summarizing potential opportunities. All services are delivered for a one‑time fee that includes dedicated hours and comprehensive support.
