One of our favorite green activities to support at PMG is tree planting. Our Green Solutionaries program supports One Tree Planted’s tree planting projects around the world with our clients’ carbon offset amounts. Additionally, our team in the PMG Brentwood office like to personally dig in the dirt to help Nashville’s own Cumberland River Compact reach their tree planting goals.

The Cumberland River Compact works on the root causes of water pollution, both urban and rural, because three million people and thousands of species depend on clean water from the Cumberland River. Their goal is to give people the tools to be smart, impactful stewards of their watershed and to constructively partner within policy planning with government agencies. Through the support of individuals, corporations, foundations, and grants, they are able to work on projects that positively impact the community.

One of most impactful projects that the Cumberland River Compact organizes is their Fall Planting Party to “Root” Nashville. The vision for this project is to plant 500,000 trees in Davidson County by 2050. This project is built upon the grassroots support from the Nashville community where volunteers meet in small groups throughout the city, receive a lesson in tree planting, and then embark on an assigned neighborhood route to help plant trees on public and private lands that have requested Root Nashville trees.

This year (2022), the Cumberland River Compact will hold its tree planting event on November 19th from 1-4 pm at various locations in the greater Nashville area. If you would like to join us, please sign up for PMG’s team here! For more information, see the Cumberland River Compact website.
